Marvell's Industry Leading ARMADA Mobile 4G LTE Quad-core Based System-on-Chip Solution Enables Yulong Coolpad's 1,000RMB TD-LTE Smartphones For China Mobile

Santa Clara, California (January 2, 2014) – Marvell (Nasdaq: MRVL) today announced its continued worldwide leadership in 4G LTE with China’s leading mobile brand, Yulong Coolpad’s 1,000RMB TD-LTE smartphones for China Mobile, based on Marvell’s ARMADA® Mobile solutions. The Coolpad 8720L mass market 4G LTE smartphones powered by Marvell’s high-performance and cost-effective PXA1088LTE System-on-Chip further accelerate the adoption of 4G LTE in China.  The Coolpad 8720L smartphone features Marvell’s PXA1088LTE quad-core solution which supports Time-Division Long-Term Evolution (TD-LTE), Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) and Global System for Mobile (GSM), for the fast growing 4G LTE market in China.

Yulong Coolpad is now the top device manufacturer in China’s smartphone market. The Coolpad 8720L is the industry’s first 1,000RMB 4G LTE phone for China Mobile, powered by Marvell’s PXA1088LTE quad-core based single-chip System-on-Chip (SoC) solution. The Marvell PXA1088LTE combines Marvell’s leading silicon and cellular modem expertise to enable the design of high-performance, low-power smartphone and tablet devices that can be used and supported with configurations for TDD-LTE (Time Division Duplex Long Term Evolution), FDD-LTE (Frequency Division Duplex Long Term Evolution), TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access), WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) and EGPRS (Enhanced GPRS).  This multimode LTE chipset supports next generation LTE standards with Category 4 throughputs of up to 150 Mbps DL (Down Link) and 50 Mbps UL (Up Link) and Release 8 TD-SCDMA HSPA+.  It integrates all of 2G, 3G and 4G mobile broadband modem technologies on a single chip, fully backward compatible with current China TD-SCDMA network and supporting the next generation TDD/FDD network.  With the performance of a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 application processor, PXA1088LTE incorporates high performance graphics together with advanced Avastar® wireless connectivity, including WLAN + Bluetooth 4.0 + FM single-chip SoC, the L2000 GNSS Hybrid Location Processor, an integrated power management unit with audio codec IC, and 88RF858 high-performance multimode LTE transceiver to keep a flexible RF circuit design on the complete mobile platform.
