Marvell's Industry-Leading 3G Platform and Wireless Solutions Power Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 7.0 Tablet

Marvell continues to drive development and adoption of high-performance and affordable global mobile solutions with ground-breaking, unified ARMADA Mobile PXA986 platform

Santa Clara, California (July 29, 2013) – Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL) today announced that Samsung’s GALAXY Tab 3 7.0 is powered by the Marvell® ARMADA® Mobile PXA986 platform, delivering high-performance computing with industry-leading graphics capabilities and best-in-class, robust connectivity at a competitive price point. Featured in the 3G and Wi-Fi versions of the GALAXY Tab 3 7.0 tablet, the PXA986 supports advanced multimedia capabilities and brings universal connectivity and low-cost processing power to mobile devices across the globe. The GALAXY Tab 3 7.0 currently is available in retail stores throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.

As part of Marvell’s unified mobile 3G family, the ARMADA Mobile PXA986 is a mass market, single-chip solution that integrates a high-performance, low-power 1.2GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 application processor with cutting-edge cellular modems to support advanced multimedia and graphics capabilities consumers demand for their mobile devices. The PXA986 also features an advanced multimode HSPA+ modem supporting Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and 2G networks, 21.1 Mbps downlink data-rate and 5.76 Mbps uplink data-rate, and critical features such as DSDS. Marvell’s unified mobile platform, including the PXA986, PXA988 and PXA1088, provides a pin-compatible single-chip 3G SoC, thus enabling easy migration from dual-core to quad-core solutions.

In addition to the PXA986 platform, the GALAXY Tab 3 7.0 also leverages Marvell’s latest wireless connectivity technology (Wi-Fi + Bluetooth), RF transceivers and integrated power management and audio codec solutions.
