Marvell Co-Founder Weili Dai Inspired by Success of the APEC WES Led by Secretary Hillary Clinton and Ambassador Melanne Verveer

Leaders from the US and Asia-Pacific economies gathered in San Francisco for the inaugural Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Women and the Economy Summit, a public-private policy dialogue on women’s economic development, that culminated in the signing of the San Francisco Declaration

Santa Clara, California (September 27, 2011) – Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions and Weili Dai, the company’s co-founder, are honored to have joined U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for the Global Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer and leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region at last week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Women and the Economy Summit (WES) and are proud to pledge their commitment to the resulting San Francisco Declaration.

As a co-chair of the APEC WES Steering Committee, CalAPEC Host Committee, and an official U.S. delegate to APEC WES, Dai joined Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ambassador Melanne Verveer and the most influential female leaders critical to women’s economic development in the APEC region for forward-thinking discussions on how APEC Economies can create environments that support women and showcase their natural talents. Their efforts were rewarded, as more than 850 delegates and guests attended the APEC WES and addressed topics including access to capital and markets for women, building their capacities and skills, and supporting the rise of women leaders in the public and private sectors.

At the Summit, Dai led the panel luncheon, “Technology and Women’s Entrepreneurship in the APEC Economies,” which discussed the role education, public policy and business has played in building the foundation for innovation in the United States, especially in the Silicon Valley. Dai and Marvell assembled an incredible panel of women leaders as follows: Deborah Forte, President of Scholastic Media and Executive Vice President of Scholastic, Inc.; Kathy Hill, Senior Vice President, Office of the COO, Cisco; Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, U.S. House of Representatives; Professor Claire Tomlin, Ph.D., U.C. Berkeley College of Engineering; and Dr. Telle Whitney, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. Together, these women discussed their specific areas of expertise and shared insights about how their personal success can be replicated and elevated to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship and grow the Asian-Pacific economies.

APEC WES is the premier event bringing together senior private and public sector players for a dialogue on fostering women’s economic empowerment among the APEC economies. At the Summit, high-level ministers and senior government officials met in a high level policy dialogue on women and the economy and adopted the San Francisco Declaration. These policy recommendations will be delivered to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, scheduled Nov. 12-13, 2011 in Honolulu.
